Yahoo! merges blog and official news

The popular search engine has decided to place side by side search results from sites providing “official” information” and those from the millions of personal blogs existing in the web. Clearly enough, a big controversy has aroused, hold by those who want to maintain a standard of “official character” for on line information sources.

In our opinion, the initiative should be praised since it uses “open source” technology. Making a private use of it, trying then to keep the privilege for oneself and to prevent others from using it, is a contradiction in terms. The version is at “beta” stage. We hope the initiative will eventually succeed. It will be of the greatest interest to watch comments, opinions and judgments on whatever happens on an actual “global” scale.
